15-year-old pianist Jackie Campbell from Salford goes through to the grand finals
15-year-old pianist Jackie Campbell from Salford has won the Keyboard Category Final and will progress through to the Semi-Final of BBC Young Musician 2016.
The BBC Young Musician Keyboard Category Final was broadcast on BBC Four on Friday 8 April and will be available to view again on the BBC iPlayer. The Keyboard Category finalists were: Yuanfan Yang (19), Tomoka Kan (17), Jackie Campbell (15), Julian Trevelyan (17) and Harvey Lin (13).
The five Category Finals (Strings, Percussion, Woodwind, Keyboard and Brass) are presented by Clemency Burton-Hill and former BBC Young Musician finalist, trumpeter Alison Balsom. They took place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff.
The Semi-Final of BBC Young Musician will be broadcast on Saturday 7 May on BBC Four followed by the Final on Sunday 15 May, which will take place at the Barbican, London and will be broadcast on BBC Four and BBC Radio 3.

BBC Young Musician 2016 on BBC Radio 3 Presented by Clemency Burton-Hill, BBC Radio 3 will broadcast complete performances of all the music in the BBC Young Musician Category Finals, focusing on one category per week (from 4 April) in the intervals of Radio 3 in Concert. The BBC Young Musician Final will be broadcast on Sunday 15 May.
