Actor Brendan Coyle, the brooding Mr Bates in the popular TV series Downton Abbey, joins Lucy Parham in her words and music programme about Debussy, Rêverie, at Middle Temple London (31 Oct) and at St George’s Bristol (23 Nov).
Rêverie takes the form of a personal journal, following Debussy from his first success with the Prix de Rome in 1885 to his untimely death in 1918.
Parham performs solo piano works including the lyrical Clair de lune and Rêverie and showpieces as Jardins sous la pluie and L’isle joyeuse.
Rêverie‘s narrator duties are also taken by Dominic West (The Wire) in Guildford (25 Nov) and the Wigmore Hall (30 Dec), and by Alex Jennings (The Queen) at London Guildhall (25 Oct). Two other well-known actors, Juliet Stevenson and Henry Goodman, appear in Parham’s Chopin programme, Nocturne, at Kings Place, London (5 Oct) and Hertford Theatre (6 Oct).
