Franz Schubert: Ecossaise D977 No 5

Like Beethoven, Schubert wrote many sets of écossaises – the name means ‘Scottish’ and that may be where this quick dance originated. This écossaise comes from a set of eight that was not published until 1889. This needs to sound energetic, so keep the fingers close to the keyboard and stay in strict time.
