Gade composed a collection of 10 Aquarelles Op 19 in 1852, following them up almost 30 years later with a second set, Op 57. They exemplify the Dane’s Mendelssohnian writing for the piano, which prizes a light and graceful touch. There is also a Schumannesque quality to the harmonies and textures of this tender Barcarolle.
