The Apr/May issue of Pianist is out on 17 March
Polish classical star Rafał Blechacz will feature on the cover of the upcoming issue of Pianist!
In his star interview, Blechacz opens up about his love for Chopin, in particular his Sonatas, as well as his brand new album of Chopin music before a brief deep-dive into the metaphysics and aesthetics of music. He's no stranger to the music of the iconic composer having become the first ever sole recipient of ALL FIVE first prizes at the 15th International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2005. He took home First Prize as well as the polonaise, mazurka, concerto prizes, and the Special Prize for Audience Approval. No other pianist has achieved this feat.
One of the competition judges, Piotr Paleczny, said that Blechacz, "so outclassed the remaining finalists that no second prize could actually be awarded."

Blechacz was snapped up by Deutsche Grammophon shortly after the competition, and has gone on to release numerous albums championing works by J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, Liszt, Mozart, Schumann and Szymanowski.
His brand new album of Chopin works was released earlier this month. Sit back, relax, and stream below.
