The pianist hopes to raise £88,000 from the performance – £1,000 for every note on the piano – which will be donated to the City of Sanctuary UK charity
Margaret Fingerhut will give a live-stream concert on Friday 5 June at 8pm as part of her ongoing recital series, "Far from The Home I Love." The pianist will also be aiming to raise money for UK charity City of Sanctuary.
She gave 32 recitals in 2019 as part of the series. This live-stream will be the Grand-Finale.
"My programme drew its inspiration from the stories and music of some of the many composers who migrated throughout history," Margaret explains. "This live-stream concert will continue that theme and will include pieces by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Dvorak and Korngold."
She is aiming to raise £88,000 from the performance in aid of the City of Sanctuary UK charity – that's £1,000 for every note on the piano. The charity works on creating a culture of welcome for asylum seekers and refugees, many of whom have been the hardest hit in the UK during the Covid-19 crisis. As of 26 May, she is just £6,000 away from reaching her target.
