Yamaha CLP 685
The CLP-685 sits at the top of Yamaha’s best-selling CLP line. Looks can certainly be deceiving; this model needs more than a quick glance to identify it as anything other than a stylish acoustic instrument.
The classic appearance with refined curves and soft fall key cover houses the sound of two of the world’s finest concert grands. The flagship Yamaha CFX and historic Imperial from Bösendorfer are enhanced by powerful Virtual Resonance Technology. Exclusive to Yamaha, VRM recreates the subtle resonances and nuances heard from the strings, dampers, soundboard and case when playing. No recordings are used, the piano is actually aware of how these elements interact!
Housed within the CLP-685 is an extraordinary speaker system made up of 6 speakers – each with dedicated frequency ranges. Drawing from their experience in building both acoustic pianos and high-end speakers, Yamaha’s CLP-685 speaker cones use pulp from the same spruce wood used to make acoustic piano soundboards. This results in a more natural, piano-like attack to the sound. Coupled with the Bluetooth Audio feature, the CLP-685 is a fantastic wireless sound system.
The CLP-685 features a brand new keyboard action: GrandTouch. This represents the first complete redesign of a Clavinova action in over 21 years and it is already winning industry acclaim. Every aspect of an acoustic grand’s action is considered and implemented. The result is an instrument with a more responsive touch, offering a greater dynamic range than ever before. CLP-685 has a linear action, meaning every key is uniquely weighted, and white wooden keys are topped with synthetic ivory. Even the feel of ebony has been created for the black notes.
