Kawai CA17

For those who desire as much of the acoustic piano experience as possible, but want or need a digital, Kawai’s Concert Artist series offers three different solutions.

EXTRA FEATURES

  • Action: YRM3 Grand II with full wooden keys
  • No of Internal Sounds: 19
  • Polyphony: 192
  • Speaker System: 2 x 20W

The Kawai CA17 incorporates the proven RM3 Grand II action. Like the newer Grand Feel II action in the higher CA67 and CA97 models (£2,199 and £2,999 RRP), this offers full-length wooden keys which pivot smoothly on a central balance pin with the same ‘see-saw’ motion as an acoustic piano key. The triple-sensor detection system, let-off simulation and counterweights further enhance the grand piano touch, and make the CA17 a suitable instrument for practising and playing even advanced repertoire.

High-quality sounds are needed to provide a suitable range of expression to utilise with that responsive action, and the Kawai CA17 obliges with flagship sounds from the Kawai EX and Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand pianos. ‘Harmonic Imaging XL’ sampling records each key individually at a wide range of dynamic levels to ensure a smooth and seamless range of expression is placed at your fingertips. Which of the concert grand sounds you prefer will be a personal choice, depending on the repertoire.

The realistic pedal weighting, Ivory Touch key surfaces, and 20 watts per channel speaker system complete a strong package. An internal recorder, USB (to Host) and MIDI facilities add welcome flexibility for the all-round musician. The Concert Magic and Lesson functions are here too: great if there are also beginners in your home.
